 Frequently Asked Questions about Mount Kilimanjaro: 
 
   1.When is the best time to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro? 

Best moths to climb Kili are January, February, July, August and September. It is not recommended to climb during rainy months of April, May and November as it’s very wet at lower elevations and some big portion of the trek.

   2. How physically fit do I need to be?

If you can run about 2 miles consistently (or walk for say 5-7 miles) you can hike Kilimanjaro. Training information will be sent after booking is made.

   3. Does climbing the Kilimanjaro involve technicalities?

Not at all. Any person in good physical condition can climb and reach the summit.

   4. Is it safe?

In every year, there are about 20,000 people attempting to climb Kilimanjaro with an average of approximately 10 fatalities mainly from altitude, hypothermia and rock fall. We work very hard to make sure our climbers are taken very good care by our experienced and well trained mountain guides.

   5. Are rescue facilities available?

Yes. Only Marangu route has reliable, equipped rescue team. Rescue services on other routes, is done by contacting the Park Headquarters who will then quickly send the rescue team.

   6.  How far do we hike each day?

On most days, you will hike about 6 miles.

   7. What will the porters carry and what will I carry on the climb?

Porters will carry most of your luggage. You will carry a small day pack that contains your drinking water, rain gear, camera and lunch.

   8. What is the food like?

Our meals are nutritious and calorific, prepared with the best quality foods and highest standards of hygiene. Breakfast and dinner are served in a large mess tent and lunches out in the open. Special dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.

Below is sample menu that we offer:

Breakfast: coffee, tea, hot milk, porridge, fruits, fruit juice, scrambled eggs, omelet, sausage, toast, margarine, honey and jam.

Lunch: hot tea, coffee, chips, sandwiches, biscuits, nuts, pancakes and fruits.

Dinner: soup, tea, coffee, cooked meat / vegetarian meal,  chicken/beef with rice, sliced fresh carrots, green beans, mashed potatoes, salads, fruits, and fruit juice.
